Looking back, 2010 was a good year. We did lots of things even though the year sure felt like it flew by (whew!). We:
- Got a new garage door (which we still love!)
- Figured out how to install a microwave under a shelf.
- Converted an electrical outlet to a pendant light (who puts an outlet on the ceiling in the kitchen, anyways?).
- Painted our kitchen cabinets white (which we love and they're still looking as good as new!).
- Painted our living room.
- Spent Valentine's Day (and the 1 year anniversary of adopting Barley) cleaning and organizing our laundry and storage room. We must really love this house!
- Took a break and spent spring break in Vegas! Viva Las Vegas, Baby! (Can we go again this year, honey?!).
- Spent about a month DIYing our own granite countertops in the kitchen, for the price of laminate. Check out the full tutorial here. And yes, we're still in love with them!
- Won This Fresh Fossil's First Ever Blog Award.
- Started remodeling the Guest Bathroom.
- Showed you how to repair nasty spots in your lawn (with insulation-looking grass seed stuff).
- Discovered a buried patio in our backyard.
- ... and then dug it up.
- Installed some new doors in our house.
- Did a little landscaping in the front yard.
- Celebrated our 1-Year Houseaversary.
- And hosted our First Ever Giveaway.
- Showed you how to install a new sink and faucet (and what NOT to do when installing it!)
- Invested in a new Dyson vacuum when our old one exploded (Okay, not literally! But it really was smoking...).
- Showed you how NOT to get easy, cheap, white coral decor (and demonstrated the importance of primer!).
- Bought a Margaritaville machine (totally a highlight of 2010, in my book!).
- Celebrated our 2-Year Wedding Anniversary.
- Had disaster strike when our closet literally collapsed.
- ...but we came out ahead when we remodeled it and actually doubled our closet space on the cheap.
- Remodeled our hallway.
- Explored the pros and cons of laminate flooring.
- Vacationed in Colorado.
- ...where we almost died on top of a mountain.
- Shared some photography tips for better photos with you (and no, you don't always need a better camera for better shots!).
- And we unveiled a new layout for This Fresh Fossil.
- Began remodeling the Master Bedroom (including how-to's on crown molding, a DIY headboard, refinishing a wood headboard, painting and refinishing an old dresser).
- Got our own .com address for This Fresh Fossil - Woohoo!
- Hosted a garage sale and shared some tips with you.
- Shared how to get soap scum off your pretty glassware.
- And showed you how to renew your carpet with a carpet rake.
- Created an iBoard,
- And showed you how to easily paint your windows.
- Shared some photo editing tips,
- And some outdoor wedding planning tips.
- Created a $15 Fall Monogram Wreath with stuff from the dollar store to spice up our front door.
- Reclaimed our garage! (I'm still very excited and happy about this one!)
- Showed you how to aerate your lawn,
- And also how to open wine without a corkscrew! (you never know - you might be needing this tip tonight, haha!).
- Installed undercabinet lighting in our kitchen,
- And showed you how to tile your own backsplash.
- Ordered some new white sofas (and are still anxiously awaiting their arrival!),
- And captured and saved a cute little mouse.
Now that 2010 is basically behind us and we feel like we've celebrated our various accomplishments (from tiling countertops to saving a mouse), we sure are looking forward to 2011 and all the fun, excitement, and adventures that it will bring!
