We Got Skillz: How To Open Wine Without A Corkscrew

We recently acquired a new skill this past weekend, born out of desperation and a stroke of creative genius.

Or something.

Well, we're anything if not resourceful, right? This tutorial is perfect for all those times you've lost the corkscrew in the midst of crazy DIY chaos, but have plenty of home improvement tools laying around.

How To Open a Bottle of Wine Without Using a Corkscrew or Wine Bottle Opener
Disclaimer: We wouldn't try this if we were you -- unless you were desperate.

2 wood screws

Step 1: Screw both of the wood screws into the cork using the screwdriver.

Step 2: Place the bottle between your feet (preferably outside), and using the end of the hammer, pull straight up on the wood screws.

Enjoy your wine!

And your lovely unique cork.

P.S. Let us know if you happen to find this on, mmkay?

  1. HAHAHAHA! Love it! This has to be the cutest and funniest post I have read in a long time. Definitely shows how devoted to DIY you two are! :)

  2. Now THAT is what I call a great, successful DIY project!! LOL I am so proud to be your mom and mom-in-law. =)

  3. Hilarious, especially because we've done this too!

  4. Hilarious. And totally something a de-runk-ie like me would do. Scott and I have come up with numerous redneck ways to get bottle caps off our non-twist-off craft beers. We've actually gotten so good at it, it's rare that we don't use a "found" way instead of a bottle opener.

Clever innovation... always worth rewarding (like with the contents of the bottle!).

  5. Pardon me a second...

  6. omg..too funny!!! You need a few spare corkscrews, I always have one in my purse. hahahhahhaah!!
