We Need Your Help!

We've been living with a mouse in our house for a week now.

And it's driving me CRAZY.

Barley the Un-Rat Terrier (or the Rat Terrier FAIL) still hasn't seen the dang mouse - and for some reason I seem to the be one who always sees it (and consequently freaks out and screams when the stupid thing scares the bejeesus outta me).

Guys, I can't. take. it. anymore.

At first I thought either Barley would discover it's existence and hunt it down LIKE HE'S SUPPOSED TO, or the stupid rodent would just up and leave.

I've finally accepted that neither one of those options is going to happen.

What's going to happen is the mouse will continue to live in our nice and toasty house all winter long, eating things and scaring the hell outta us everyday (and probably taunting Mel, too), until it's summertime and it leaves. Because really, when it's only 5 degrees outside, would YOU want to go out there?

So this is my our plea for help: we have to get rid of the mouse. Preferably humanely, because really, I'm rather fond of little furry guys, and the mouse is too similar to our current pet rodent that I don't have the heart to just kill it, no matter how many times it scares the crap outta me.

Do you have any suggestions for a type of trap we can get to catch it? Anything not to get? Any advice? What would YOU do?

We appreciate your feedback and comments! (although I'm sure the mouse wont!)

  1. Chelsea, if you don't want to kill it you can always buy a small rodent trap. This one I found on amazon.com (http://www.amazon.com/dp/B0000DINGG/ref=asc_df_B0000DINGG1348569?smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER&tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=asn&creative=395093&creativeASIN=B0000DINGG), but you could find others by just doing a Google search. You can get them for around $15-$20, which you can look as an investment because you can use it over and over

  3. the humane traps are really good - you don't kill the mouse but they do catch them. Make sure you check it regularly and that you release the mice a long way away from your house!!

  4. Thanks for all the suggestions, everyone!

@Clyde - Thanks for the link! I didn't even think of Amazon (for some reason they weren't the first place that popped into my mind when I though "mouse trap", haha!). We ordered the trap you suggested (it had the best reviews) and are crossing our fingers that it'll do the trick!

@dani - We plan to do just that. Now we just gotta catch the little critter...
