Nursery Progress

Finally - a much anticipated nursery progress post! ... and this time there's actual furniture involved instead of an empty - but painted - room.

Of course, this room is nowhere near finished, but it's definitely starting to come together nicely. We still have to put up decorations, curtains and shades/blinds, a new light fixture, install some new outlet plugs and lightswitch, and about a zillion other things - but we still have time before Baby M comes, so we'll get-er-done.

Remember this heirloom bookshelf that I painted awhile back? It holds books and toys and some fabric bins perfectly! Down the road I'm guessing it will probably evolve so it's primary function will be toy storage, I'm guessing, but for now it holds all sorts of stuff.

And we have big plans for this dresser - stay tuned for all the details later.

Don't even get me started on the closet. For now, it's barely containing all the items that Baby M has received from generous friends and family! They're literally spilling out of it. Of course, some of those items will probably mostly live in cars or in other areas of the house, so we expect the closet will really clear out once it gets closer to when the little guy gets here. But for now... well, it's just the most convenient (although not the prettiest) place to store everything!

And I just have to share... isn't this diaper bike the cutest? Major kudos to my friend who made it for one of my showers - it's so creative and I love it! I'm wondering if I really need to take it apart - maybe it can just live as a cute piece of decor in the nursery... haha!

We'll totally diggin' the new room and absolutely love the paint colors. They're super-subtle and light, which makes the room feel really airy and spacious. And we love the blue ceiling - we like to imagine little Baby M staring up into the blue like it's the wide open sky. The thought just makes us all giddy!

We still alot of work to do in here, though, so stay tuned for some on-the-cheap DIY decor ideas and more nursery progress!

  2. I love it! You still have some things to do, but it's already looking great! When I saw the first photo, I thought of how serene it will be which is great feeling for a room with a baby! There is so much potential for bringing in color as well whenever you want to, but it looks great more neutral as well with the super happy ceiling!

    I'm loving it!

  5. Aw! So cute!! What a cool bike. Never seen one like that before! I know what you mean about not wanting to take it apart. I got a diaper cake for before my one year old was born that I still haven't taken apart! :)
