"Wasting Away Again in Margaritaville..."

Where's the salt?!

We've been in the market for a new blender for awhile now. We did have this old baby:

Which sort of worked. Kinda. It's old. It was wedding gift for my parents (!!) but it was still chugging.

The only problem? We didn't use it.

Why? It didn't blend well. Which is ironic, because that's the whole point of a blender. To be honest, though, it blended food and liquids really well. It just had a problem blending ice.

We would spend quite awhile blending something thoroughly to get it silky-smooth, pour it into glasses and tip 'em back - only to find large chunks of ice in the bottom half of the drinks. And I don't know about you, but if there's one thing I absolutely hate, like seriously loathe, it's huge chunks of ice in my smoothie.

It got to where neither one of us would use the blender because it just couldn't get the job done.

So, it was time to upgrade.

We looked at some blenders every now and then, but just took our time since we didn't need a new one immediately.

But a couple of weeks ago, while perusing this great deals site called slickdeals.net, we found some Margaritaville machines on sale.

I tell ya, I was so excited when I saw the sale, that it was all I could do to not leap out of my chair and start jumping up and down in excitement!

I should probably mention that I've wanted a Margaritaville machine for a loonnnnggg time now, ever since my brother spoiled me forever by making me a drink in the super-deluxe silver one that he won for free for being a super-awesome salesperson at Williams-Sonoma.

It. Was. The. Best. Blended. Smoothie.

Ever.

So, of course we ordered one. We consider it a great 2nd Anniversary gift to ourselves. It is, as Uncle Eddie would say, "The gift that keeps on giving!"

And here it is in all it's Margaritaville glory:

Beautiful, isn't it? Okay, so maybe not beautiful... but awesome, right?!

It's super easy to operate. Just open the top and dump in some ice cubes:

Then put 15-20 ounces of your mixture into the pitcher.

Then you're ready to rock blend! Just push the button and 30 seconds later you have a restaurant-quality blended drink.

What sets the Margaritaville apart is that it shaves the ice before blending, ensuring that there are no large chunks of ice anywhere in the drink.

Love. It.

Although we will primarily use it for making blended drinks, it can also be used as a regular blender, or a snow-cone machine, too.

And honestly? We couldn't be happier. We did some research online to see how it compares to other blenders in the same price range, and although they were prettier in stainless steel, the deal was clenched when the reviews said "This blender makes smoothies almost as good as the Margaritaville machine...". Yup. We were sold.

I see many margaritas in our future. On our new patio. Chillin' with Jimmy. Sailing away. Oh yes.

What do you guys think? Have you ever tried a Margaritaville blended drink? Are you as impressed with the machine as we are? Or are you more of a Kitchenaid, or any other kind, of blender person? Let's talk about what floats your boat!

  4. That machine looks amazing and that patio looks really enticing with the yellow umbrella and blue sky! I may have to look into those since our blender broke awhile ago. It left those big chunks of ice, too, so I really wasn't too sad to see it go.
