Patio Project: The Big Reveal

About one year ago, we found out there was a patio buried in our backyard.

About 2 months ago, we began to dig it up.

About 2 weeks ago, I began power washing it.

Just in time for our first ever Patio Party.

Why would anyone literally bury this cement patio?

I guess we'll never know.

Want to know our budget breakdown for getting our new huge patio?

Zero dollars.

  1. Buried treasure! That is amazing! I can't believe someone would bury it! And it's in fairly decent shape...kind of like my wood floors - the carpet was protecting them for 40 years. In your case, the grass has been protecting your patio!

  3. Awesome, awesome, AWESOME! I still can't believe it was buried, but I would be happy because you got a free patio without even knowing it! It looks great! How was the patio party?

  6. That umbrella picture is so pretty.

I can't believe you found a patio hiding in your backyard! What is that?! All I find are firearms and dustballs in our new place. Not fair.

  8. Thanks guys!

We are loving the *new* patio, and have had several gatherings there already. We like to sit and relax as we watch the sun set over the trees, listening to the birds sing. It's a wonderful way to relax after a long day.

The Patio Party went well! Some friends came over and we broke-in the patio with some grilling, and a whole spread of food and music. We even lit a couple lanterns. It was a great time, and we can't wait until our next Patio Party!

    Thanks for dropping by,

  13. Thanks so much, guys! I won't lie, it was a ton of work, and I sure went through alot of Aleve, ice, and beer ;) getting it all done (I did it ALL while Tom was busy studying! Wootwoot, go me!) but having a nice large area to gather and relax to listen to nature and watch the sun sink below the trees, is totally worth it.

And I will never understand what was going through the previous owners' mind when he decided to bury it. Oh well, now it's like our special bit of buried treasure we found. :)
